12x12 Scrapbook Layout Using Simple Stories 'A Charmed Life' - Capture This Moment
The journaling reads... I don't have many photos of me and the boys but I like this one. It is in one of our happy places at Fountains Abbey in Summer 2012. We always have a lovely walk, an ice cream, a picnic, a climb, a play, a rest... fun. Our range of Simple Stories 'A Charmed Life' is here. Happy scrapping, jenx

12x12 Scrapbook Layout Using Simple Stories 'A Charmed Life' - Makes Me Smile

12x12 Scrapbook Layout Using Simple Stories 'A Charmed Life' - Makes Me Smile
Not over fussed on the diagonal striped paper on this one... but it sort of reflected DS2 whizzing around on his scooter. With the journaling cards that act like a title and tell a bit of the story, I think the busy-ness has been toned down a little. Our range of Simple Stories A Charmed Life is available here

Sunday Scrapping on a Woodware Theme... Christmas Is Coming!

Sunday Scrapping on a Woodware Theme... It Is Time For MacMillan: Christmas Is Coming!

The theme over on the Woodware blog is Christmas is Coming... hop on over to the blog to see what those lovely folks have been creating.
It is that time of year again when people are starting to think about Christmas... and the title is 'Christmas is Coming'. So, how do we know Chritmas is Coming? Leaves falling off trees, Autumn walks, darker nights, Harvest festival songs, Hallowee'n costumes, glittery bits starting to appear in the stores... AND MacMillan Coffee Morning! We know we are on our way to Christmas when we have this event. We had a grand time at our events this week and raised a whopping £110! Not bad for a canny wee group of North East crafters, eh? Our first event was in 2012... were you there? Used London papers to create this layout as the colours match the MacMillan livery perfectly. If you haven't had a MacMillan Coffee Morning, why not pop your name down with them and organise one for next year? Coffee and cakes with very good friends and chucking a bit of money in a box for a grand cause... what's not to like?  Hope your Coffee Morning was a good one and happy scrapping, jenx

Sunday Scrapping on a Woodware Theme... Ribbons, Lace and Pearls

Sunday Scrapping on a Woodware Theme... Ribbons, Lace and Pearls
This gorgeous Vivi Gade paper is one of my favourite designs. I love it because in that one piece of paper, you have borders, backgrounds, lace, dots and roses. You really don't need much else to make it beautiful... but ribbons, lace and pearls match perfectly. I think it is great for baby photographs as it is delicate and clean. I covered some Chippies to create the title. The Mark Richards pearls and the self adhesive lace and ric rac finish the layout. So the journaling reads at the top: "These were almost lost photos. I know exactly when and where they were taken. They were lead up photos to two gorgeous ones." The journaling at the bottom reads "Printed on copier paper. Found during a clear out. Saved. Almost thrown away. Saved. Imperfect photos. Saved." And this is why I like scrapping... if I didn't save every last little piece of anything and everything, all these little things would be lost. I saw an interview with a famous author who said, when his son was a tiny baby, he had picked up a pen and scribbled into a very expensive book that he possessed. He was furious at the time, but now, that book is priceless to him as it has his now adult son's first writing in it. The book is not important to him now... but that scribble is. I have bits of paper like that... bits pulled out of diaries for them to draw pictures on when they were bored. And I have saved so many of them. And they are all in boxes and files waiting for their turn to be scrapped. And that is why I scrap. Up close for the detail...

Woodware Theme.... Ribbons, Lace and Pearls.

Woodware Theme... Ribbons. Lace and Pearls

This is one of my favourite ever Woodware stamps and Design Team Leader, Viv, has done an amazing job allowing the beauty of the image to shine through. Stamped and embossed, then painted with inks, the card needs no more than a few pearls and a sumptuous bow to complete the classic look. Pop over to the Woodware blog to see what everyone has been up to over there. Happy scrapping, jenx

12x12 Scrapbook Layout Using Simple Stories 'A Charmed Life'

12x12 Scrapbook Layout Using Simple Stories 'A Charmed Life'

How Irreverant?

The journaling reads... What is it about boys and caves? I don't know what the monks would have made of it, but I hope they would have smiled. This was some kind of man made 'cave' for some cooling purpose or other, I believe. And it echoed. So bring on my 'Lord of the Flies' boys and their 'strong man' impersonations. Complete the picture with tribal war cries and maori style dance moves and you are somewhere near our trip to Fountains Abbey.

I did one of my favourite things in the corner... take all the little bits of Ephemera which don't fit with my theme and cluster them together to create a layered embellishment. You can see our range of Simple Stories 'A Charmed Life' here. Make sure you check out Virginia's blog as she has been creating with this range too. Happy scrapping, jenx

Sunday Scrapping on a Woodware Theme.... Punches

Sunday Scrapping on a Woodware Theme... Punches

The them over on the Woodware blog this week has been punches.

Well you know I love my punches almost as much as I love my fussy cutting, so I like this theme a lot! I deliberately challenged myself not to use anything but the punches for this one... no gems, ribbons, or buttons etc allowed. I wish I had made the flowers more 3D using that curling/cutting technique you use with silicone glue to create a real flower effect... but I was going for distressed and crumpled.

So I used the Saffron 6x6 pad and the large pink scallop, smaller yellow scallop and yellow plum, all available from Wear Crafts at the Creative Space in Langley Park, Durham.

I layered everything up with Woodware Crafty glue and spritzed with Clearsnap Banana Ink Spray.
The sprays are brilliant as they bring papers together and soften edges, making the layout look as though it is one complete piece rather than lots of small pieces of paper brought together.
The ink sprays bring a consistency to the layout which might otherwise not exist due to variations in the colours of the papers... well that is my humble opinion anyway! Have a lovely scrappy Sunday, jenx

Sunday Scrapping on a Woodware Theme... Craft Canvas

Sunday Scrapping on a Woodware Theme... Craft Canvas WARNING! PICTURE HEAVY!

Make sure you pop over to the Woodware blog to see what everyone has been up to with this wonderful stuff! There are amazing things to view!

So... we found out that you can ink it, stamp on it, stitch it and heat emboss it! Wear Crafts Design Team Leader, Viv, made a wonderful little mini book...

Excitingly, we discovered that you can run it through an ink jet printer. I made a layout (which caused great consternation at the Friday night crop!)... I made a layout EVENTUALLY! Well.... we all made a layout... every single person at the crop, had an 'oar' in (as we say up north) or a 'two penneth' in (as we also say up north)... so ahem it was rather collaborative... no mixed media inks, coffee cups or teabags were hurt in the production of this item...

As a tired wee exhausted recouperating person, I lost my mojo completely BUTTTTT!!!!! then I got it back and made this... and I have no idea why some of the photos ended up on their sides! But the craft canvas is excellent for printing photographs... use a Fast or Draft setting (I would recommend having a play with settings before trying to complete a final project) for printing and the result looks like a canvas painting! I am quite impressed... and also in awe of the great projects on the Woodware blog... so make sure you have a peep! Happy scrapping, jenx
