Rocking Your World Friday

Yes, I know it is Tuesday and I am so late it is ridiculous but last week was a bit of a roller coaster to say the least. I was an emotional wreck and needed a bit of space and time to take everything in. But I am going to turn that into a positive - because it really, really is. So, here goes... my rocks for last week...
  • the nicest comment any teacher could hope to have from a parent - 'what are we going to do without you?'
  • the nicest comment any teacher could hope to have from a child (not the child of the above)... 'please don't go, I actually really like you and I don't want you to go'
  • the nicest comments any teacher could hope to have from colleagues which it is just not appropriate to repeat here, but they were just great
  • the most beautiful and thoughtful leaving present I think anyone has ever received in the history of leaving presents
  • bunch of flowers off DH on my last day
  • more chocolate, flowers and wine than a girl should really have (and oh dear, the Thorntons have gone already and there were three boxes but I am going to blame DH)
  • a colleague from another school saying that I am the bravest person she knows (I am not really - quite the opposite - quaking in my boots as we speak actually!)
  • spending time with DS1 and DS2 on Thursday and Friday
Now I am going to stop there because I think I am going to spill over into this week and I want to keep those rocks for Friday when I will link up properly I promise. I have been a bad commenter and blogger recently and I promise I will be better now! Also, will someone please explain to me how the UK Scrappers Cyber Crop works as I am totally new to UK Scrappers and am too scared to ask!!!And I wanted to let you know we have a giveaway on Facebook too - the link is HERE.

Mini Circle Book Tutorial

I have had lots of enquiries about the circle mini book which I made at the Gateshead Creative Crafts Workshop. In this one, I used Kanban Britannia Card (Keep Britain Crafting range) whic is very strong and makes the mini book stand up beautifully when on display. I used a peg to hold it together, because I was in a shabby chic mood, but it works just as well with a ribbon tie. I like to cut our the quarter which some people fold down as I think it can make the mini book even more bulky than it needs to be. So, here goes...
I used a large teaplate to create the template.

My mam informs me that these are valley folds and mountain folds.

A quarter doily slots inbetween each piece nicely and hides and wobbly cuts or slight mismatches when the pieces are cut out.

I cut the quarter I cut out again to make contrasting segments for decorating the base.

I used a folded butterfly to create the hinge which held the segments together (I have popped the Gateshead photo at the end of the post because it is clearer in that one.)

This one shows where I put the segments in the base.

The band I made to hold it closed.

Butterflies on the peg to make it pretty!

Folded out.

Folded up.
I have left this picture bigger so you can see the butterfly hinge.
I used a range of Kanban card available HERE and HERE. If you make a beautiful one, email me the photos and I will put it onto our Facebook page. I have also popped this on Make It Monday.  Don't forget our Facebook Candy HERE. I have some inspirational quoates and pictures HERE if you want to be uplifted today! Happy Tuesday. jenx

I'm Back!

Ok, I know I have been absent for a week - but it has been a very emotional week. I closed the door on one chapter of my life which has been a huge part of my life and one of the things which makes me 'me'. So, I gave myself a bit of time 'off' with the boys and DH. Normal service will be resumed this evening. Leave you with this lovely picture and sentiment...

and this one...
