Rocking Your World Friday

ROCKING MY WORLD FRIDAY - BUTTON!
Much more upbeat rocking post this week!

Saturday - time with the little family, walking, which we love.
Sunday - watching Wiggo, Cav and Froome do their stuff.
Monday - unwinding properly for the first time in ages.
Tuesday - lovely meal out with bigger family.
Wednesday - sorting out the school uniforms during the first week instead of leaving it till the last week as we usually do.
Thursday - exciting phone call about up and coming features in national magazine (squeals and does a happy dance).
Friday - the sun is shining!!!

Now, I have a very busy weekend ahead and it has been a very busy week in general. It has not felt like the school holidays at all and I know I have not spent as much time as I should have done with the kiddies - especially the littlest one who you can see in my profile photo. Will make sure I sort that out this weekend.

I am starting to feel like me again (although I am still not sleeping brilliantly, but that will come). I have a good DH (but don't tell him I told you that!). I have a strapping DS1 who is a good lad really (certainly don't tell him that or he will think that I have to give him a new PS3 game as a 'reward'). I have a loving DS2 who needs some mothering this weekend (however busy it may be).

So, today, to finish the week in a rocking way, I promise:
  • to have a proper conversation with DS1 for at least 30 minutes!
  • to spend time with DS2 making, colouring, reading and playing a board game (he loves draughts and I defy anyone to beat him!)
  • to just sit and breathe in some fresh air this evening with DH - the sun is shining.
Hope your world rocks too. It doesn't matter how grey the skies seem to be, it is probably raining really heavily somewhere else, and you know the sun is always there behind those clouds, you just have to look hard enough to find it. jenx

Thoughtful Thursday

Getting ready to Rock My World tomorrow, so spending some time thinking about the good parts of the week - like the Tour De France win for Bradley Wiggins on Sunday!

You know those cool photos from the tour? Well they simply had to be scrapped...
The journaling says 'if you can dream it , you can see it; if you can see it, you can be it'. That is a little phrase I am living by at the moment! The paper is from the My Mind's Eye Sunny Side collection. I thought this was perfect for scrapping summer moments and 'I can ride my bike' photos when I stocked it in the online store. However, when Sunday happened, I remembered the little yellow bikes and knew what I had to do!!! So it has ice cream vans on it to... so what! The buttons are meant to be little wheels (yeah, right!). Used a Wear Crafts Embellishment Bag on this 12x12 layout - tribute to Mark Cavendish and Bradley Wiggins and their achievement in the Tour de France.

Have a great day! jenx

He is Growing Up!

I know he is mine, but how gorgeous is this young man becoming?

WOYWW

Photo on the floor... but this is what was on my workdesk this morning...
Started life like this:
 Mother did this:
 I did this:
Spot the scrapbooker and spot the cardmaker!

Mam stuck her design to the back layer so that the scallops can be pulled outwards to make the card go flat for an envelope. I stuck a sheet of Kanban Ditsy Flower card between the two layers and cut around the scallops to give the frame rigidity so it ould stand up. I wish I had put a frame in a contrasting colour on my front like my mam did before I began clagging stuff to the front; mam wishes she had put a sentiment or words on the front jutting out like I did.

Will hop onto as many desks as I can this evening - love to see the variety of work! Leave a comment and your number and I will do my best to return the visit. jenx

Time For Yourself Tuesday

This looks much nicer in real life than it does in the photograph. It is a Kanban Blooming Frames kit which uses acetate to create a window above the image. The image is printed on the acetate as well as underneath - hence the apparent blurring in the photo! All it needs now is some ribbon, some flowers and a bit of bling and then I think it is good to go!

Remember to make time for yourself on Tuesday! jenx

Less Is More Challenge

I don't know if this would really qualify but I am going to have a go!
Now I have popped it in the blog post it doesn't really look less is more at all but I did keep it simple and there is sewing on there. I sewed in lines and cut punched circles in half. The photos are just stuck straight on and I used two tags. No, I don't think it is very less is more at all but I had a go! jenx

Oh I have just looked at it again and it is not clean and simple at all, is it? Well it is simple in terms of the number of techniques I used, I suppose. jenx

Happy Monday

Well the gentle hints have become simple statements like 'I want to go to Disneyland Paris NOW!'... but I am getting nowhere (boo hoo).

So embarrassing High School Musical Scrapbook pages to share. I love HSM. I don't care if it is cheesy, it is so positive and those songs are so catchy and I would have wanted to go to that school when I was a kid - hey, I kind of want to teach there now (lol).

Going to shame DS1 greatly, now! Several 12x12 disney layouts, some double page, all in the disneyland scrappbook. How productive am I?

Left hand side - he will go mad with me when he sees this LOL

Right hand side - I don't suppose many of his friends look at scrappyjen's blogspot.

Look at the date 2008... too long ago!

And I can see the Tower of Terror - I love the Tower of Terror!
Hope you enjoyed that! All about the photos, I think on those layouts. Have a Happy Monday, jenx

First British Winner of the Tour de France

What more needs to be said...?

If you were asleep yesterday, Bradley Wiggins, first ever British winner of the tour de france.

Maybe only this....

And if you were asleep yesterday again, Mark Cavendish, world champion and four times winner of the final stage of the tour de france.
This is all record making stuff here! Next stop Olympic golds aplenty!!!

We love cycling in our family! Been a huge fan since very young age. I think I was the only person at University with a life size poster of Sean Yates on my door in halls! Fantastic achievement! love the team spirit, the way they work together, the way no one person is bigger than the team, the way they have a plan and stick to it and it works. Gonna start a campaign to make cycling our national sport!!!! Feel some wheel themed scrapping coming on! jenx
